"Morph Cut" in Ae?!
"Morph Cut" in Ae?!

In Premiere, there's this very useful transition called "Morph Cut", that basically morphs layer A into layer B. It's very cool and useful when you want to create something like an unnoticeable cut in the editing.
Is there a "Morph Cut"-transition effect in Ae, or at least something very similar without having to do a lot of manual work?

[Filip Stillerska] "Is there a "Morph Cut"-transition effect in Ae"

not natively, there is an amazing plugin for that - Re:Flex , it has a morph effect that is remarkable.

You can use the reshape effect. Granted this is more of a true manual morph where you make source and target shapes but it comes with AE.

Steve is correct, I forgot about the reshape effect which is an option to explore as well.
Here's a nice tutorial about it:

I'll probably sound like the laziest person ever now, but I think it's a missed opportunity from Adobe by not implementing the "Morph Cut" as a transition in Ae; instead, there's a lot of extra manual work that easily could have been avoided. I mean, the "Morph Cut" in Premiere is fantastic, it's just a simple drag-and-drop. I've never experienced any problems, glitches or unwanted results with it (but I understand that it's not perfect for everybody).

you could ask for it here:

the only time I needed morph cut is for morphing talking heads on a premiere edit, and I did it in premiere. when I tried to use morph cut as to something that was more challenging - it failed miserably. and of course you could always just copy the clip from Ae to Premiere, apply the morph cut, render and bring it back.

Yeah, the Morph Cut is not suitable for every situation. I've just been lucky with my challenges I guess.
