Can I swap drive in P2Store??
Can I swap drive in P2Store??
by Bill Thomas on Jan 7, 2010 at 5:25:23 pm

I have the P2 Store - AJ-PCS060G

Just curious if anyone has swapped out the WIMPY 60GB drive?

What were they thinking with such a tiny drive?? Is there some technical issue that I'm missing?

Anyway, I recently replaced a drive in my MacBook Pro, so it CAN'T be any trickier than that.

Any help would be appreciated!

Bill

Seems like a simple task. If it were possible, I would have heard about it.

When the P2 store came out, people were shooting on very expensive 4GB and 8 GB P2 cards. P2 Store was part of the offload workflow. Today 16, 32 and 64 GB cards are readily available and inexpensive plus the need to offload on location has really not been an issue. Panasonic did not see the need to make a model with a larger hard drive.

Thanks guys!

Yea, over at DVXuser someone tried a 500GB drive and the Panasonic firmware still saw it as 60GB.

Come on Panasonic - how easy would it be to write a firmware update???!!!

Except for guys like me who spent 2 grand a few years ago and now my P2 store is all but obsolete!!!

I've been in the broadcast video business over 20 years. I spent my share of money on products that have become vapor ware. I have also made some very wise investments and saved thousands and thousands of dollars on new and old gear.
