Convert 3ds models to Cinema 4d anyone?

I have a series of models that I need formatted for Cinema 4d. I've been able to open up the .3ds files as well as some .OBJ and .FBX files that the client has provided, but the geometry is importing triangulated and and apparently with some nurbs applied. I'd just like a low poly export with a clean mesh. Is anyone able to do this?

.3ds will always be triangulated.

When you export the .fbx you can select quads/triangles - if this is set wrong at time of export then you'd need to get the originals re-exported properly.

Thanks for the insight, I'll keep that in mind.
