Ram upgrade
on Nov 12, 2007 at 5:39:36 pm

Hey all,

I have a long project, things are getting slow.. 20sec to add a 10 frame dissolve, crashes on "select from here", Im sure you all know it.. and its just plain frustrating to work with.

But, has anyone tried upgrading the RAM in the system?

We are running on an HP xw8000 with the 1GB it shipped with,
But, according to the Peripherals Guide, up 4GB can be installed.

You might want to separate your program to different timelines during the construction phase. Long programs seems to make things really sluggish. Hope this helps. Jack

Upgrading the RAM is very straightforward, and should help some crashes.

To add to Jack's reply, if you're working on a long timeline, zoom in as much as you can to still be able to work. This seems to reduce the crashes for me. On programs with hundreds/thousands of cuts, things get very sensitive.

I work on sections, piecing them together at the end. It was either that or buying a wig after a great deal of hair pulling. :o)

Cheers,
Ben
