exporting via quicktime which quicktime version

I am having difficulty with exporting via 844x. Programs over 7-8 minutes in duration either lockup 844 or gives me an error code. I see others have experieinced this problem and was wondering if a solution has been developed.

Also the By-Reference Movie button in the Export window is turned off.

Could the quicktime version be the source of this problem?

We installed version 7 for another application and I am suspicious that 844x only supports earlier versions like quicktime 5. am I right?

Hi,

This could be a Quicktime issue, or could be the occasional 844/X lockup that happens from time to time.

The last official QT tested was v6.02. QT 7 changed/broke quite a few things with various applications. Most of those apps got updated - 844/X didn't. There are some people working with V7 without any issue, but if you're suddenly experiencing problems with exporting, then rolling back to an earlier version seems like a sound idea.

By-reference only ever turns up when exporting from the Source window. It will only render a self-contained movie if exporting the timeline.

Cheers,
Ben

I've always had this problem with anything over 3-4 minutes in length.

Our solution is to capture longform videos over SDI to our FCP station and compress it there. Not perfect, but it works.

I have the same issue on longer renders. I find that a restart and turning off the screensaver helps... but isn't perfect. Eventually, I get even the longest ones out but it may take a few tries.
