Lost in the Mojave Desert

A well-meaning person updated the OS on my MBP and thus neutralized my cherished FCP 6 and 7. I was still using these classics and have projects there that I need to update or draw from. Before I try some of the partitioning solutions I see here or try to find a computer running an older OS, is there any new editing system or converter you can load these old projects into and still have functional editing? I remember seeing that you couldn't do legacy jobs on FCP X. Is there anything out there will? Thanks.

If you convert your FCP 6/7 projects to XML they can be loaded into both Premiere and Resolve. Some effects, grades and plugins will need to be redone with newer equivalents. Text generators will come through but formatting & fonts might need a tweak.

Also if you have an XML "SendToX" works great. Opens projects from FCP7 to FCPX.

But yes, ANY solution means getting FCP Legacy installed on a computer with a compatible OS, so you can open it and export what needs to be export.

Key point. I may go ahead with a Time Machine restore. Thanks for your reply.

VMWare Fusion
Keep your older software and OS running while you can update your computer to the latest OS version if you'd like all without having to reboot to a different partition.
