i'm a documentary editor and new here.
for my last project, a documentary for a no-profit association, i'd like to export sound from FCP 7 to Protools.
I was told that Automatic Duck do it well, but it's difficult to find a copy of it.
Could anybody help me about this ?
from FCP7 you can easily export OMFs that can be imported (also easily) into ProTools.
there's a 2-gig limit to the OMFs that FCP can make,
so depending on the size of your project, you may have to split into smaller sections,
and/or limit each export to a certain number of tracks
other than that, OMFs from FCP are easy and reliable
using Automatic Duck you can export AAFs which can also improved into ProTools.
the AAFs don't have the file-size limit, but you would be best to do a fair bit of testing,
just to make sure it will work when the time comes.
if you contact me I can get you Auto Duck
