Changing time code on newly redigitized clips.
on Apr 5, 2017 at 12:49:05 am

Folks, I have an SD timeline and I recently redigitized, to HD, all the original tapes.
The timecode is not identical. Here is a picture of the SD file next to the HD file.
Is there a way to re-write the TC on the new HD files to match the TC on the SD files? Thanks.
Do I need to go to the same point on both tapes - for example, where there is a camera cut, to find the difference? There isn't any slate on the footage. The same point on the SD file is 00:05:54;19 VS on the HD 00:05:57;11
THANKS
DAN

Just tried to use the FCP7 function of Modify->Timecode and it did not offer the option of a 29.97 time base - only 30fps. Why is that?

while FCP can change the timecode,
it can't change the time base,

you need to run the clips through Cinema Tools to "Conform" them to a new frame rate.

i never work with those frame rates myself, living in PAL land,
so there may well be other things going on i can't identify,
like did you capture the clips correctly?

Thanks. I did not know that. I will look into that.

Could this be a Drop Frame / Non-Drop Frame issue? The two time codes seem to indicate that.
