Transcoding XDCAM Footage to ProRes
on Apr 11, 2014 at 10:03:12 pm

Hi there-

I need to transcode footage shot in XDCAM (MPEG HD 422) to ProRes 422 so that an editor can work with the files in Final Cut Pro 7.

I've used Compressor before, but never with XDCAM footage. Do I need a plug-in to do this conversion? Or is there a very simple way to dump all of my XDCAM footage into Compressor & do a batch process to output to ProRes files?

Thanks!

You can just use XDCAM Transfer to tranfer the footage from your cards or BPAV files to a QuickTime file that FCP will use. Or you can use a log and transfer app from Sony.

Both can be found here:
