combining video resolutions in edited clip
on Oct 19, 2013 at 11:13:37 am

Hi all,

I'd like to know what's a good way to combine footage coming from 2 different camera's, ie. shot on 2 different video resolutions. My camera's are Canon HV30 (1440 x 1080), and Canon S90 (1280 x 720).
Obviously I'm shooting on max res on both camera's. But it seems the footage of the HV30 is 4:3 and the footage of the S90 is 16:9. Any tips on this are appreciated!

[Kino Haitsma] "But it seems the footage of the HV30 is 4:3 "
The 1440x1080 pixels from the Canon HV30, may look distorted if you are playing the clips on QT, because those 1440x1080 are not Squared pixels, but HD pixels.
Import some clips to FC and have a look to the Browser.
If the definition is 1440x1080, make sure than in the "Pixels Aspect" shows "HD".
If so, the movie will play 16x9.

Edit both footage on a 1280x720 or 1920x1080 sequence. On both cases SQUARED PIXELS.
