What kind of video editing format that give you 1000mbps stream 1080HD
on Aug 24, 2012 at 4:24:29 am

Hi,

I am new to video editing.
I am using Final Cut Pro X.
I alway get edit my video in Proess 422 or Apple Intermediate Code.
Normally I will use Mpegclips to convert mov/mts stuff into those format.
I encounter this 1000mbps stream MOV.
This kind of stream will hit hard on my iMac or similar desktop.
It is said for editing, but with my own working experience I never encounter above 220mbps.
The source of the video clip come from Canon 5D mark II kind of digital cam.
I wonder this kind of video editing that expand such a gigabit stream.

Thank,
kongwee

That's around the data rate of 10b Uncompressd at 30fps.
you need a very fast RAID to move that in real time.

The data rate on the Canon 5D is about 44Mbps.

Anyway, you can convert 1000Mbps to proxies of lower bit rate - via Prores or whatever, and continue to work. Later, once the edit is locked, you can relink to original footage for final render.

Not everyone works with uncompressed footage in real time.
