Exporting HD sequence with pictures: pictures look bad after compressing
on Feb 15, 2012 at 3:28:56 pm

Hello,

I'm trying to export a 30 min HD sequence with pictures in it. When I export 1920 x1080 the pictures look ok, but the export files are too big. When compressing for DVD or Vimeo or exporting in lower quality the video looks still ok, but the pictures not. How can I avoid that?

The video is shot with Canon 5D. Editing with FCP 7, apple pro res, exporting to H.264.

Hope anyone can help,

Lotte

[Lotte Haase] "The video is shot with Canon 5D. Editing with FCP 7, apple pro res, exporting to H.264. "
First export to Prores, setting "Render in high precision".
Then convert that master to H264 (multipass, key-frames auto and the data rate you want)

Don't see though where you can select "Render in high precision". But I was already trying to export as Quicktime Movie and then compress through Compressor and that looks better..

[Lotte Haase] "Don't see though where you can select "Render in high precision"."

IN Sequence Setting > Video Processing.

Ok, it's already on "render 10-bit material in high precision YUV'. Or should it be on "render all YUV material in high precision"?

Render ALL material. That way the pictures (8bRGB) are also converted and managed in 10bYUV.
