Slide-in text boxes in Final Cut Pro ? Is it possible ?
on Oct 18, 2011 at 10:58:54 pm

I would like to know how to generate slide-in text boxes,
like the one that pops-up at 0:22 in the video below:

The person who did it said it was done on Sony Vegas, but I would like to know how I can achieve the same thing on Final Cut.

Thank you.

Sure.
Text is just an static image with Alpha channel.
You can move the text with the Motion tab, but better, use the 3D Boris text.
Has all the options to animate it without using the motion tab.

Thanks for your reply,
but I would really need to generate the exact same thing or as close as possible to the example I showed above,

what would be the best way to make it happen ?

That is not a slide in text box.
They just did a mask wipe.
In your motion prop - apply crop. Animate.

Sina,
That clip has four layers:
- Text
- logo
- box
- Video.
The box is just cropped mate animated.
You have also to animate the text and the logo.

Thanks for the answer Rafael,
I have the logo, font, etc & can generate a box on FCP using the 'Color Matte' option I guess

But I just need to know how I can do the animation of the slide-in & out ?
Would you please explain exactly how that can be achieved,
Would be VERY appreciated.

Thank you sir.

[Sina Ghi] "I have the logo, font, etc & can generate a box on FCP using the 'Color Matte' option I guess"
Riight, just crop it.

You need to key-frame the "Center" in the Motion Tab.
Mark a key-frame in the frame you want to start to slide and another in the frame you want to stop.
