I have some questions I'd be grateful if someone could answer.
1) I have a movie wherein the footage was taken with a Canon Vixia HF S20, and the footage is only on the timeline as 1440x1080. How can I adjust this?
2) FCP only allows me to export at either 1280x1020 or at 1980x1020. How can I do 1440x1080?
3) When I export at 1280x1020, Quicktime says the movie is 960x720, and the picture looks distorted. Is this just Quicktime adjusting the picture size and the file is OK, or is there some setting I need to fix?
I realize I probably should've fixed #1 before editing, but I didn't realize it until I'd almost finished cutting and decided I wouldn't worry about it since the video is for the web. But it'd be great to either change the timeline settings on this movie, or know how to do it in the future.
The Vixia you are shooting with does not shoot at full 1920 by 1080. Instead it shoots at 1440 by 1080 and fits a full frame by adjusting the pixel aspect ratio. I believe if you export out your current project as is, you should get a quicktime file that is at 1920 by 1080. If it give it to you at 1440 by 1080 you take that into compressor and adjust your aspect ratio in there to fit 1920 by 1080 or what ever frame you desire for the web.
Went to an Apple store for tutorial on FCP7. Advised I had the Cannon 1440 x 1080 rectangular data with rest of data in 1920 x 1080 square. Had problems doing effects. My tutor was unable to fix in Commpressor. Can you advise on how to do this in Compressor?
