You can't. At all. FCP X isn't an upgrade...it is a completely different app.

Finish your film in FCP 7.

Thats insane....
These Final Cut guys they made this new version of final cut and has got no feature what so ever to open the previous version construction file.... Thats really really not good. Can anyone at least find a middle way out of my situation where by i can still use the cool features of new final cut pro x for my older final cut construction file.

That's one of the things that has FCP users in an uproar. You cannot bring older projects into the new app. because it is really a different app.

There is no middle way.

I'd advise using FCP7, too. What cool new features do you want to use? I believe that Automatic Dick is working on a way to get older projects into FCX, but I don't know how well it would work. And if you're in the middle of any project, switching will invariably mess everything up (speaking from experience). Is it too late? Have you already "upgraded"? If so, you should still have FC7 on your system, and - again - I'd stick with that.

[Dan Monro] " I believe that Automatic Dick is working on a way to get older projects into FCX"

I cannot tell you how many times I have typed "Automatic Dick"...but I have always caught myself before posting. Well, not always. One did get through, but now I double check.

A lot of people here are "automatic dicks." I can be one too at times.
