I've been wondering this for years, but have never really asked anyone. Am hoping someone can help. I know all (or most) of the sites for finding sounds, and I do make use of the .caf Apple loops that came with FCS, but there's a type of sound effect I hear everywhere that I can never find and don't really know what to call them in order to search for them.

They're just little "whisps" and "clunks" used as accents when things move quickly on or off the screen or settle into place. Does that make sense?

Anyone know where to find these?

Thanks in advance!

We call them (rightly or wrongly) 'stings'.
There are some quite useful ones in Apple loops in programs such as Garageband.
Failing that, GB is a really useful (but very simple) way of creating some.

Hope that this helps

Thanks for the response! When you say that you can create them in GB, do you mean there's a utility that will create them in there, or you just record them with your voice?

There is a decent selection within Garageband, or it's possible to combine one or two to create something suitable for your needs - which is what I tend to do.

If the ones in Garage Band's sound effects are not enough for you, sounddogs.com has them, as well as Digital Juice. Juice has this kind of thing in great volume, in a collection.

Thanks for the great info, fellas. I used Digital Juice years ago, but we now have an account with DeWolfe, but I don't get sound FX from them (just music). I will check out all those links. Thanks again!

For what it's worth, I use Designer SFX, and the other Video Copilot stuff all the time. Perfect for all those little swooshes and stuff.
