BluRay Burn Loses Video

Hey All,

Have an issue I haven't run into before and was hoping anyone here had any thoughts...

I have a timeline with multiple Compound Clips on it. When I burn to BluRay it starts out fine... then about a minute in the video goes black... audio remains. Once the disc reaches the next chapter (or Compound Clip), video comes back and is good the rest of the way.

While in FCP10, I see the video in the viewer, both in the Timeline and within the compound clips original project itself.

I tried burning to another BluRay thinking maybe it was the media, but the same issue occurs.

Does anyone have any insight as to what might be the issue here?

Did you render out to a self-contained movie before burning that to BD?

No. Went straight to Blu Ray via the Share function.

To add, I deleted all render files and did the same Share to Blu Ray with the same result. What I noticed is that the video drops out at a different point in the same compound clip each time.

I did create an mov of the section in question from its original project and dropped that in place of the compound clip. That worked.

But I'm still in search of why the compound clip is behaving badly.

At a guess, it's having trouble finding reference movies, or there's nesting involved, and nesting can lead to problems like this.

Well yes, nesting is involved here as compound clip is a nest. As far as reference movies, I can see all the clips in the original project (the project that was converted to a compound clip) and a lot of those same clips are being used in other compound clips on the timeline that are not giving me issues.

Do nests (compound clips) have a history or being problematic?

"Do nests (compound clips) have a history or being problematic?"

Does JJ Abrams like lens flares?
