Audio out of sync after compression
on May 6, 2011 at 3:58:35 pm

I can't seem to output/upload my clips to Vimeo without audio sync problems. It's not really drifting. I can jump ahead in the clip and it doesn't get any worse. In fact, at times it just seems like it's skipping frames and so you don't really see the details of the person's mouth moving and it just seems out of sync. But it's still quite apparent and far different from previewing the timeline in FCP.

I'm editing the following footage:

in a sequence with the following settings:

I then send to Compressor with the following settings (as per Vimeo's recommendation):

Name: Vimeo HD
File Extension: mov
Estimated size: 2.15 GB/hour of source
Audio Encoder
AAC, Stereo (L R), 44.100 kHz
Video Encoder
Format: QT
Width: 1280
Height: 720
Pixel aspect ratio: Square
Crop: None
Padding: None
Frame rate: (100% of source)
Frame Controls On:
Retiming: (Fast) Nearest Frame
Resize Filter: Linear Filter
Deinterlace Filter: Better (Motion Adaptive)
Adaptive Details: On
Antialias: 0
Detail Level: 0
Field Output: Progressive
Codec Type: H.264
Multi-pass: On, frame reorder: On
Pixel depth: 24
Spatial quality: 75
Min. Spatial quality: 25
Key frame interval: 24
Temporal quality: 50
Min. temporal quality: 25
Average data rate: 5.12 (Mbps)

I also tried a compressor setting with 720x480, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

Is there anything obvious that i'm doing wrong here? If not, I can share a clip, but I'd rather not unless it's absolutely necessary (this footage shouldn't be public just yet...not sensitive, just privileged).
