How do you create this effect?

I was wondering if someone can explain how to reproduce the effect in this video from 1:46-1:49 and 2:25-2:27.

Much appreciated.

Burnt film plug-in.
There are several of them around.
FCP.
After Effects.
Motion.

All can do this.

You can also buy it as stock footage from Artbeats and the like, nd composite it in. You can make it from scratch, but it's work. What you're seeing is how film looks when light leaks in and over-exposes a section of the film inside the camera or inside a super-8 film cartridge.

You can create this effect by shooting blurry light and increasing the contrast and playing with composite modes.

or...... you can purchase LightFX per clip, not so pricey either.

These all blend together as well to create more complex FX.
Enjoy.
