How to Correct Aspect Ratio?
on Dec 11, 2010 at 11:47:52 pm

My footage was shot in SD 16 x 9.
Client wants a DVD that plays the video as 16 x 9, naturally.

Mistake I made was that I edited the footage without the Anamorphic box
checked in the Sequence Settings.

I never noticed it was letterboxed while I was editing.

These were my other settings:
Frame size: 720 x 480
NTSC DV (3:2)
Pixel Aspect Ratio: NTSC - CCIR 601...
Compressor: DV/DVCPRO - NTSC

Which Export setting do I want in order to make the correct
file for Compressor?

Thanks much,
Dave

Simply create a new sequence with the proper settings.

Copy paste the clips from the incorrect sequence into the new correctly set up sequence.

The clips might not fit properly at first. Double click one clip in the sequence to open it in the Viewer window. You made need to adjust the Scale and Distort perimeters. Scale should be 100 and aspect ratio in the Distort section should be 33.33 (or maybe it's -33.33)

Once you fix one clip, highlight it in the timeline, right click, copy. Highlight the rest of the clips in the timeline, right click, Paste Attribute. Be sure to select scale and Distort. Then everything should fit nicely.

Export your Quicktime Movie. Author in DVDSP.
