Capturing HDV -- FCP won't recognize
on Mar 21, 2010 at 7:58:35 pm

Okay, so I know this question has probably been asked 123 times, and I tried searching through old threads, but got tired after about 4 pages...

I just upgraded and got a new mac and upgraded to FCP 6 too. I had to switch from using a 4-to-6 firewire to a 4-to-9. I'm still using a Sony FX7 as my "deck".

However in FCP, I can't get it to recognize the camera when using the "easy setup" for HDV 1080i. (That was the setting I used on the old computer and it worked just fine).

And under my system profiler, in the "firewire" section, it shows the computer as recognizing the camera...so I don't think I have a bad firewire cable or bad firewire port.

What am I doing wrong? I went through and selected almost every easy setup option out of frustration's sake, and still no success. I even tried hooking up my other camera I have in my arsenal and it wouldn't recognize it either.

I will graciously admit my stupidity if someone can solve this riddle for me...

Excuse the double posts, as I'm new at this thing.
