Hey cows, I will try to be short here. I come from a news background and feel like I was pretty good at it (shooting and editing) . I was always was looking for projects more challenging with creative possibilities. So I'm trying to get out on my own doing some small projects in order to establish myself, and become more confident in what I can offer. Im fairly new to FCP studio , but feel I'm learning fairly quickly, I have gone through a handfull of books on the subject and try to absorb as much I can off these forums, although it can be overwhelming . Im just looking for a person I can bounce ideas off of, and ask questions to on a personal basis. Email or IM would be great

This forum provides round the clock answers and idea bouncing. And, with our truly international group of forum leaders, we are 24/7/365 here, with someone somewhere on the globe awake and willing to help at all times.
The alternative for you is to hire a consultant who, for a very modest fee, will be at your beck and call 24/7/365. Several of the Cow leaders on this forum, myself included, provide this type of service to knowledgeable clients exactly like yourself, who want fast answers. Check out my consulting link at: http://www.drwfilms.com/consulting.
Call me, and I'll be happy to discuss your needs without charge.

And quite a few more to choose from. As this is truly an international forum, you get all sorts of perspectives to your queries rather than just an American broadcast view, which is very cool.
Are there any facilities you might just "hang out" at in your area? I have folks who stop by from time to time to just chat and see what's going on when we have the time. I've also had interns come through to learn from us.
How about Final Cut Pro / Creative Media User Groups? Try Googling Illinois Final Cut Pro User Group, or Motion Graphics Group, or anything like that.
Between all the free advice on the Cow and some local creative group, you'll probably get all the advice you need without having to spend any money.
