Creating a weather forecast (mock)
on Jan 8, 2010 at 6:50:30 pm

I'm looking to create a weather forecast with some already keyed footage.
I've built the key so far entirely in FCP7, although it is clear that I'm going to need to look at another app for the creation of the weather map. I'm currently thinking either AE or Motion4?

ANy suggestions on how I could go about this? I really do want to create it from scratch, so pathing the map itself in Photoshop is no issue. My query really lies with the animation and overall look of a classic weather map (uk by the way).

Any advice appreciated greatly.
Thanks in advance.

Can you narrow the question a bit?

I've built a few mock weather maps in Motion. What I did was take a look around at my local stations and visits sits like: http://www.newscaststudio.com/inspirationfinder/ to get an idea as to how it should look. Then start creating you own cool looking weather map. Easy to do in Motion and AE. Hope this helps.

PS, I know this won't help but thought you would like to see same newish stuff I've created in Motion: News Graphics
