Exporting hd footage to tape

Quick question, when you have a finished fcp project that was filmed by the panasonic hvx200 in 720, 24p onto the p2 card. What is the best way to export that footage to tape and keep the 720 quality? Done it with minidv and the panasonic hvx200, but lose the HD quality. Is there another way? Thank you for any help.

Export to tape? You mean Edit to Tape or Master to Tape? Exporting is what you do when you transfer a digital file to another digital medium like exporting a QT Movie to a hard drive. When you go to a VTR it's an Edit to Tape or Master to Tape or even a Print to Tape.

If you want to maintain the HD original quality then you lay back to a Panasonic AJ-HD1400 VTR to DVCPro HD or to a Sony HDCAM VTR.

That's correct, you're dropping down to Standard Definition as the camera only records SD to tape.

Thank you for the reply and sorry for the confusion. Yeah, I am looking at a print to video and was using the HVX200 for the playback and recording it on the minidv. Was looking for a similar and cheap way to playback and record but retain the hd quality. Could the HDV minidv work? Obviously with a different camera or something like the JVC HD50U? or is that just pointless? Thanks again for the help and dealing with my ignorance.
