error importing folder
on Dec 28, 2009 at 7:55:21 am

Hello,

I'm new to FCP, in fact I'm a software developer which don't have any FCP knowledge. The old guy in the team handover the FCP "project" to me with two folders and a .DB file, in each folder I have a lift of folders with name like "0001C6" and in each of the sub-folders I have "CONTENTS" folder and in "CONTENTS" I have AUDIO, CLIP,ICON, PROXY, VIDEO, VOICE folders. He said that I only need to import and that all but I always have problems. The first problem is about FCP cannot read .MXF file and I corrected it by installing Calibrated{Q} MXF. Now I still have problem, when I import i have the following message: "File Error: 924 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 463 unknown"

The structure of the folder is as follow:
-20000505
---0001DO
------CONTENTS
---------AUDIO (hold .MXF files)
---------CLIP (hold .XML files)
---------ICON (hold .BMP files)
---------PROXY (empty)
---------VIDEO (hold .MXF files)
---------VOICE (empty)
---0001OX
---------.......
---.........
-20090817
---0001C6
------CONTENTS
---------AUDIO
---------CLIP
---------ICON
---------PROXY
---------VIDEO
---------VOICE
------0002KY
---------.......
------.......

Could you please help!

Thanks in advance

That sounds like you were handed P2 material, you cannot simply import the contents off the card. You have to use the Log and Transfer function of Final Cut Pro.

Shane Ross covers the workflow in this tutorial.
