How to brightenin up skin colour in Final cut?
on Dec 15, 2009 at 9:25:58 pm

Hi Everyone I have a small Problem with this video I'm trying to edit. The background and everything is pretty well lit, however the people in the video are looking very dark. I was wondering if there is a way I could "pick" those skin colours and brighten them up a touch?

Thanks in advance!

Rishi

Go to the COW tutorials section, look for Rich Harrington's tutorial on exactly how to do this. He walks you thru it step by step in the video, and more completely.

I watched it and I did it for this clip but the brightness selection looks choppy...look at my clip (After 5 seconds I show the clip without any colour correction)

anyone know how to fix this?

Define "choppy." It looks 100 times better to me with the color correction, however, Youtube isn't the finest way to judge.

BTW, the Cow has video capabilities that are far better than Youtube quality.

It does appear that the light source may be pulsating or flickering, but still tough to tell at the size and resolution of Web video.

Meanwhile, go to Sequence>>Settings and change the compressor to ProRes, and re-render. See if that helps at all.

Also, what is the original source, HDV or widescreen DV?

[Rishi Kumar] "anyone know how to fix this?"

Slide the "Softness" slider in the Color Corrector farther to the right (softer.)

Then, re-render.
