I can't seem to get mp3's to play in my video
on Dec 14, 2009 at 7:05:11 pm

I've been trying for a few days to figure out why I can't get mp3's to play in my video and need some help. For some reason audio connected to my video clips play, but not from mp3's.

I've tried dragging and dropping mp3's into the audio timeline from my desktop and I've also tried adding them as a file to my library and then dragging and dropping them into the timeline. When I double click them they play in the audio editor, but not in my timeline. I've tried them in several different channels, I've tried soloing them, I've tried adjusting the db level, they aren't muted, but I'm still stuck. I've also tried to resample them to get them to the same frequency as the imported clips.

Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong? Thanks for any help!

Rob

FCP doesn't like MP3's. YOu need to convert those to AIFF 48Khz, 16-bit Stereo files. Compressor has a preset for this.

Even more easily, you can open the mp3 in quicktime player (pro) and export the audio as a .wav - very simple and fast.

I actually just needed to render the audio. I found something in another thread on this and it worked like a charm. Thanks to both of you for your help!!
