duration of transitions
on Dec 4, 2009 at 10:54:38 pm

I have two normal clips that I want to crossfade between. When I add the transition, I can only have a duration of .01. I can't change it to be any longer. I have plenty of longer transitions in my project, but in some cases like these, the transitions act funny. The two clips are long and shouldn't limit the length of the transition.

What could I be doing wrong with this particular transition?

Thanks!

You have no "handles". You need to trim the clips before you can use a transition between them. Trim either side or both sides of the edit, then add the transition back on to the edit.

Basically, you need overlapping media beyond your set in and out points to be able to add a transition to it.

Take a look at this podcast to see transition handles in use.
