Distortion when exporting
on Nov 10, 2009 at 2:38:34 am

Hello,
This may be a simple problem but I just can't seem to get around it:

I made a stop-motion video on Final Cut and the timeline has the dimensions set to HD 1280 x 1080
and so does the Pixel Aspect Ratio. Everything runs fine when I view it on the canvas or viewer, however, when I export it (on H.264 for example) the video is completely distorted (as in "squashed in"). Is this a problem on final cut or is it some sort of setting on compressor?

I've tried everything I can, but I'm new to all of this...

Does anyone know what could be happening and how I could fix this?

That is not a correct HD size. The H.264 preset likely expects 16:9 video

Right,
So if i want to keep the JPEG image quality that I have on the original pictures what timeline options (dimension and pixel aspect ratio) should I use so it won't distort the image when I export it?

Thanks

1. don't use jpeg.. terrible format
2. Stick with video resolutions if you want to use MPEG4
