Re-rendering of footage?
on Sep 17, 2009 at 12:21:00 pm

Hey Guys,

First post here, have looked through the forums and can't find a similar post, but apologies in advance if this question is already out there (i'm sure it is)

I'm a newbie to FCP and i'm working on some footage for a music video...most of my clips are effects based (membrane, lensflare etc) having messed around and rendered them i'm happy with what i have...My question is if i have rendered a clip (some of them, small 5-10 sec clips take about 11 minutes) and want to copy them repeatedly on the time line do i have to keep re-rendering them?

The way i'm using FCP now it appears that i have to, just wondering if there is a way around this..

Thanks in advance,

Copying and pasting a rendered clip should work without a re-render if it's a standalone clip. If you place it over another clip, then you'll have to render. You can try exporting the rendered clip as a QT with current settings, and then Import it to use. However, if you're placing that clip over another clip, you'll probably have to re-render.
