Re-connecting QT Reference Files on 2 computers with same footage

Hi,

I am working with FCP 7. If I make a Quicktime Reference File and I send it to someone who has the same exact footage (We both made all of our files Pro Res 422 LT) will it re-connect on their end if I just send them my project file? We have tried it with just the clips on a timeline and it re-connected fine.

Just curious if QT Reference files will do the same thing?

Thanks in advance,

I doubt it. Creating a reference file implies that you're somehow modifying the original footage. You're making a render file. The exported reference clip would point to that file... which your counterpart doesn't have.

Time for Plan B, I think.....

Just chiming in to add another voice, and to say that no, it will not connect at all. If they have exactly the same media, in the same file structure....send them a project with just the sequence.
