FCP7 & El Capitan
on Feb 10, 2016 at 4:44:47 pm

I'm running Lion on a 2011 iMac and also using FCP7(Full Suite). I need to upgrade my OS to El Capitan so I can update Safari for work on Wix(I want to do video for my web page and it won't support my current Safari). Will going to El Capitan have any adverse affects on FCP7 or anything I need to know ?
Thanks
Joe

This subject has been widely discussed. If you take my advice you will leave FCP7 just where it is and use another computer for anything which requires a later OS.

I concur with Mr. Poole.

I especially concur since you asked a similar question about After Effects CS6 & El Capitan on the AE forum. There are conflicting reports that the fully-updated CS6 (11.0.4) works properly under El Capitan. Since going to the Creative Cloud, AE is no longer the virtually-bulletproof application is once was. Unless you're willing to invest a lot of time researching how to get the application, the OS and the hardware on the same page to simply work the way it once did, don't do it.

In conclusion, if you're reluctant to make a massive change to the applications software you've been using for a long time, I advise getting an additional machine to run the newer OS & Safari.

Add a second drive and install El Capitan. Boot from the new drive when you need to Wix.
