Editing ap4h (Pro Res 4444?) files

Hello!

I was just handed a hard drive with RAW ap4h files. I'm assuming these are Pro Res 4444 files?

Should I/do I need to convert/transcode these in Compressor to Pro Res 422 files? Or can I just import them straight into FCP 7?

Thank you!

Do any of them have an alpha channel? They'll lose it if you go to ProRes 422.

Thanks for the quick reply, Dave.

Can you explain a little further? How do I find out if they have an alpha channel?

Thanks again.

You ask the individual who handed you the hard drive. It won't seem dumb. Since ProRes 4444 supports alpha channels, you're doing your due diligance as a responsible editor by asking. "I just want to confirm that none of these clips have alpha channels. Is that correct?"
