When I put a clip on track V2 on the timeline, it always needs to be rendered. Any ideas why this happens?

Thanks.

Probably a mismatch with the timeline. Codec... frame rate... dimensions... could be anything.

Possibly. But when I place clips on Track V1 I don't have the problem.

Are you saying that if you drop a clip on V2 on an empty sequence you have to render?

Or, are you dropping it on V2 on an existing timeline above open space, or above other material on V1?

I'm dropping it on top of other clips on V1.
