I'm using FCP 7, editing footage that was shot with a Sony A7-S at 24fps. I converted it to QuickTime H.264 files. Files are on an external hard rive.
On the timeline, whenever the player head approaches the end of one clip, the image in the outgoing clip hesitates or stutters just before the transition to the next clip. (The same clip plays fine with no stutter in the Viewer window.)

Sorry, but transcoding to H.264 was a BIG mistake. The footage is almost certainly the source of your transition problems.
You should procure whatever software is necessary for the Sony camera to do a Log & Transfer in FCP, transcoding to ProRes 422. As an alternative, you can use the Media Manager to transcode the footage in the project to ProRes 422.

There is no plug in to allow it to be brought in via Log and Transfer. This must be converted with an outside converter. EditReady does this well, as does Bulletproof. Yes, you need to convert to ProRes 422...FCP and H.264 don't mix.
