high-res TIFF in FCP 1920x1080

Hi,

I'm editing a 1080p timeline in FCP. I have some very large TIFF files I am planning on using, roughly 8000x5000 for some of them.

Is there anything to be gained by keeping the resolution of the TIFF larger than 1920x1080? Or, am I just wasting space?

Thanks,
Bleakley

8000 pixels wide is too big for FCP...

If you're planning to zoom in you will need them larger than 1920x1080... If there are static then 1920x1080 is just fine.

FCP 7 cannot work with stills over 4000 pixels. You'll get a GENERAL ERROR when you try to render it. YOu need to make them all 3800 pixels or less.

Are these images just going to be static? Do what the other guys say.

Do you want to have the stills move on the screen? Do it in Motion. You'll gwet much better results than farting around in FCP trying to do it.
