Extremely slow rendering times
on Apr 1, 2015 at 9:27:44 pm

Hey so I should probably preface this by saying I'm pretty new to this so any technical terms or specs will probably have to be explained to me. For some reason, I started getting extremely slow rendering times even when rendering the most simple of changes. Things are taking way longer than they should and it wasn't always like this. I'm not sure how to fix this problem.

Please help as soon as you can.

Thanks :)

maybe you are using very large pics or graphics. are you using footage that is h264.? in sequence settings/video processing make sure that you have "always render in rgb" ticked.

What is the codec of the footage you are working with? What camera are they from? Did you convert it before you brought it into FCP? What did you convert it to? What are your sequence settings?

Here are my sequence settings:

The video is literally just a jpeg with music and the "Bad TV" filter. This isn't the only project this has happened in though. I didn't covert anything.

So just a still picture and the BadTV filter? No Quicktime footage or camera footage?

Well, the BadTV filter is pretty render heavy...because it has to basically create all that noise and distortion. That takes time.

Yeah but I've used just regular jpegs before and it probably would have taken an hour to render.
