How can I get the EOS FCP plugin now?
on Feb 8, 2015 at 7:34:48 am

I'm trying to transcode video media shot on a Canon 7D through Final Cut Pro's Log and Transfer window, and I can't find the plugin that should allow the media to be recognized. It's mentioned in various places online (as "EOS Movie Plugin-E1 for Final Cut Pro"), but Canon's website no longer seems to have it and it doesn't appear to be available anywhere else. Does anyone know how/where I can get ahold of it?

I could just transcode through Compressor, but I want to preserve the timecode metadata.

Thanks!

[Matt Hoffman] "preserve the timecode metadata"

7D files do not have a timecode track. It does however have some sort of ToD thing going on. You can find the plugin if you go to the downloads and drivers page of a camera and choose to show software for Mac OS X 10.7.

I've said this before, but 5DtoRGB lite (free) or Batch (paid version). It's much easier to use and better conversion. I have no financial interest in the company as a full disclosure. I'm just an end user.

Matt,

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/eos_slr_camera_systems/eos_d...

find "drivers & software"> then "software" > then "EOS MOVIE Plugin-E1 for Final Cut Pro 1.6 " I believe that is what you want.. Good luck!

The EOS MOVIE Plugin-E1 for Final Cut Pro 1.6 appears to be no longer available through canon usa. Here is a link that I just used to download the plugin successfully today.
