Batch Timecode Adjustments - Adding time
on Nov 12, 2014 at 4:23:07 pm

I'm trying to sync footage for a documentary with audio that was recorded with timecode, but without a guide track. For some reason the timecode for the audio and video don't match, and are off by a few seconds. Luckily the difference in time between the two seems to be consistent, so I'm thinking that I can just change the time code on the clips so that they match, and then sync everything with the multiclip function.

I'm trying to find a way to batch calculate what the new timecodes should be, and I've found a macro that allows excel to recognize timecode, but it doesn't allow you to add or subtract those time codes from eachother. Does anyone know of a way to make it so that excel can add or subtract the time codes, or if there is a program that allows you to batch calculate the timecodes?

you look into QTchange, i think it is, from Video Tool shed

but in FCP an XL spreadsheet will not help

best and simplest way ios to line al your clips up in a timeline,
double click the 1st on into the viewer
Modify Mene > Timecode to bring up the modify TC window
MAKE A SHORT CUT FOR THAT IF YOU REALLY WANT TO SAVE TIME!!!

hte tc field should be active, and in FCP you can add and subtract values in all TC fields,
so just +xx.xx.x (your offset) na dhitenter,
then enter again for the tc to be modified

you can copy paster that offest value too to save more time,

stay in the viewer, and hit the down arrow to take you to the next clip
hit your Modify TC shortcut
+ (paste your value)
enter
enter

down arrow, etc

are you sure you want to modify the TC of the clips?

QTchange has an Increase/Decrease function, just as you probably need...
Check it out, the free demo will give you enough info if it will work for you or not!
