Green Screen Talent Disappears on Rendering FCP 7
on Jun 20, 2014 at 4:54:35 pm

I have a situation where I am successfully editing a talking head green screen shot recorded on a KiPro 4:2:2 in Final Cut 7 using using these filters, but then when I render or export, the talent head completely disappears. Here is my data:

Mac 2x 3.2 GHz Quad-Core
Final Cut 7.0.3

And the filters I am using are stacked in order like this:

Color Smoothing
Primatte RT with Noise Removal at 0.02, Matte Density at 0.3, Spill Suppression at 0.04, and Mix at 100.
Matte Magic with Shrink at 1, Feather at 0.91, and Mix at 100
Color Correction to increase talent exposure some.

Does anyone have any idea why he disappears upon render?

Oh, now I deleted Matte Magic and he renders! What is that all about?

Matte magic settings must be too aggressive or the key might invert at that point. Or it may be switching off your opacity.

Thanks. I'll play around with it.

If you recorded directly to a KiPro, you may not even need the color smoothing. What does the shot look like without it?
