Timeline Frame Rate question??
on Jun 6, 2014 at 2:32:19 am

I screwed up and shot some interviews on my HVX200with the record setting at 1080 30p. My b-roll will all be at 23.98 fps. I'm on FCP 6.7...what is the best way to make this work?

Thanks,
JPD

The best way would be to use After Effects convert the footage to 23.98 and interpret the footage in a magical way. Sorry, not sure what that way is, I know an AE guy that converted 30p to 24p for me smoothly.

With the tools you have, the best way is with Compressor, and all the frame controls set to best. Even then, there will be some stutter. It's easier to go 23.98 to 29.97 interlaced....then 24p to 30p...or 30p to 24p.

Thanks Shane. I think I figured out a work around. I dumped the 24p bRoll into Premiere and spit out 30P source clip...it doesn't look too bad. Guess I just need to make the jump to Premiere. By the way, your posts have helped me numerous times. You Da Man!

Thanks so much,

Hmmm... are you required to deliver this project at a specific frsme rate? I don't think I saw anything about that.

No specified deliverable frame rate. It's for an internal corporate function, then their website. Think I have a plan...used Premiere to convert 24p to 30p...looks Ok.

Thanks for your response.

or simply "conform" all the b-roll to 30fps using CInema Tools
it'll run a tiny bit slow, but for b-roll it might not be important.
the up side it doing the conform is instantaneous.

Thank you for the suggestion. I've never used Cinema Tools…might have to try that.
