Problems importing Canon C300 files...
on Feb 27, 2014 at 7:48:32 pm

I'm on FCP 7.0.3 and regularly import Panasonic P2 files.

I downloaded the Canon plug in to import some C300 files, and those appeared in my Log & Transfer window. I closed that window -- planning to import later.

Now every time I try logging and transferring those files, I receive this message: "unsupported media or invalid directory structure."

Help...and thanks...!!!

Re-point to the media. Again, just the root level of the card.

Did you change the name of the card backup?

Did you add any characters, like !@#$^&*()+":- ?

Yeah -- I did add a backslash -- like: 12/10/13 -- would that cause problem??

(using the date / backslash is my normal workflow with P2 media and zero problems with this)...

if the backslash is a problem -- how best to get around that??

thanks again for your help -- mucho appreciation...!!!

Yes, backslashes are a problem. Use underscores: 12_10_13

So, are you saying that if I go back and change the backslash to an undescore on that file -- my system will recognize it...??

thx.

It was a thought...

So it worked before, but now doesn't. What did you change that made it not? How about going back to the original name of the backup? Just to see.

Try downloading the Canon plug-in for a newer Mac OSX than you have. I am still running 10.7 with FCP7 and had to use the 10.8 plug-in. That worked for me.
