Basic audio sweetening in FCP 7
on Dec 8, 2013 at 10:43:50 pm

I am working on a project:
:45 spots, talking heads,
very good recorded sound/dial
a couple woosh sfx
ambiance music track I added in BG

I don't have the budget to send to a pro audio guy so I am hoping to do my own audio sweetening.

So far I applied the normalization on the clips... and made sure the overall level of the spot is around -12db.

How do I create this rich sound you get when a spot comes back from mixing?

Thx

There are many ways an audio pro enhances a track. Basic tools are EQ and compression. although, there are many more. There's no preset formula. Google for tutorials on mixing. You will find good info.

Try the compressor/limiter filter and play with the settings until you get the result you're looking for.

E=MC2+/-2db

If you know how to work with Soundtrack Pro, which allows you to use VST Plugs,
Then get Ozone and WAVE, with this you can do a great audio finalisation.
Special the compressors and limiters of WAVE are incredible.
