Using FCP7 (I also have FCPx, Premiere CS5)

Any filters for the video and audio that could improve the above?

I would like the audio as pristine as possible - so remove the VHS tape hiss.
Video to be sharper perhaps - anyway to sharpen and add some color in there?

Steve's right about the GIGO, and I get the feeling you were hoping against hope that there would something in the typical Final Cut Suite toolbox that would to the trick.

The only thing I can offer is is a maybe, perhaps. Use Soundtrack Pro's Noise Reduction filter to HELP reduce the hiss. Not eliminate, but help reduce.

It all hinges on finding a portion of the audio where the hiss is over silence. If you don't have that, you're left with EQ, which isn't much of an alternative.

Neat Video to reduce video noise

3-Way Color Corrector to add some colour

STP for the audio
(Or find the original track)
