Second export through FCP and compressor
on Oct 18, 2013 at 2:53:22 pm

So i just exported a couple of videos through compressor as h.264 files and the audio is kindve low. Each of these files took about 4 hours to compress. Is it ok to just reimport the h.264 footage into tcp again, raise the audio meters and export? and if so what compression settings are recommended the 2nd time
Thanks

Hi Andy,

if you set your audio levels right in FCP let's say -6db, you audio is fine in Compressor. I would go over again.

cheers

So i can send the newly compressed h.264 files back into FCP and send to compressor again? What settings would be o.k to use the second time without recompressing and keeping the quality?

No, you have to send the original FCP files with the new sound settings to compressor.

you could try running through compressor again.

i think it's possible to raise the audio somehow, maybe with a filter
and set the video to bypass.

or you could try something like your original idea:

inport into FCP, raise levels,
and export using same settings, so no re-compression on the video
not sure how that will work with H264, but worth a look, i guess

make sure your audio bit rate is at least 160 or higher.
