I am using the SEND TO Compressor feature for a project contained within FCP 7 on the timeline. I have settings at .264 with 5000k data rate for posting on Vimeo. Twice now the end file has a data rate of 3600k. I also used Export via Quicktime conversion in FCP and again the data rate was at 3700 instead of the 5000 that i had set it at.
Most of the video is a talking head with not much movement or change in the scenery...is Compressor & FCP just requiring a lower data rate to create this movie due to these factors or is something going on that is affecting the data rate setting i have set?
Codecs like that start with a keyframe containing complete image information. Then they look at the following designated group of frames, find portions of the image that don't change, and throw them away.
Not much significant change in large portions of the image? You don't need a lot of data to replicate them.
