playback in canvas
on Aug 15, 2013 at 5:42:20 pm

Hi all,

I did a forum search but couldn't find quite what I needed. I'm working in Final Cut Pro 7 with some Pro Res LT footage (converted in Compressor from H.264 Nikon D800 footage shot at 720/60fps). I have changed the speed of all clips in the timeline to 40% because this will be a slo-mo piece (will 60fps slowed to 40% essentially give me 24fps?). When I hit play, the footage will playback in the canvas for a while and then freeze, however the playhead will continue playing in the timeline. My sequence settings match my footage settings. Below you can see my sequence settings, RT settings and playback settings. I'm rather new at this so any insight will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Doing the slowing in FCP won't make the moves smooth. You need to use Cinema Tools to CONFORM the frame rate if you want it to be smooth. I have a tutorial for that here:
