Capturing DV, audio choppy
on Aug 12, 2013 at 8:37:31 am

I have a Sony Digital8 DCR-TRV530 (it plays both Digital8 and Hi-8 tapes). The audio plays fine in the camera but when I use log and capture in FCP 7, it's completely choppy and I get a warning saying that the audio sample rate doesn't match the audio of the source, which could cause sync problems. The audio is in sync but it's constantly cutting in and out very rapidly and I wanted to know if there was a certain setting I should be using.

Also, what settings should I use to capture the video? Should I just capture it without changing anything? And is there a benefit of using the Canopus ADVC-110 over the firewire cable? Thanks!

Your audio is probably 12 bit 44.1kHz, FCP plays best with 16bit audio at 48kHz.
You could try and render out the audio after capture is complete.

It is capturing at 16 bit, 48 KHz, and the audio rapidly cuts in an out.
