The solution in this instance is to reshoot the interview. Sorry to be harsh, but out of focus is just that. Chalk it up to a learning experience and always shoot interview on manual focus, and always check focus after going to manual, but before pressing record.

For future reference, you're on the Final Cut Pro 1-7 forum. Try the Final Cut Pro X Techniques forum for FCX advice.

Hi Jeff,
sorry for wrong forum!
I used (ALWAYS) manual focus but I was in a disagreeable circumstance. I had to interview a subject and at the same time to check the focus through the small LCD of the camera, and all the other parameters. This for five consecutive interviews. Before judging, you should perhaps ask... don't you believe?

Anywhere, many thanks.

Sharpening is a common tool and I have used a variety of plugins in FCP7 over the years including FXFactory which I believe are available for FCPX.

DSLR's are a difficult to focus and so I understand the both the need and the perfect validity of asking for sharpening plugin advice. Lyric unsharpen mask is my favourite and the FXFactory ones have some nice variations like sharpen particular color channels, luma or chroma etc.
