Panasonic GH3 in Final Cut Pro 7

I just got a GH3 and have a question about workflow in FCP 7. I have the camera set to record MOV at 1080 30p. Final Cut Pro 7 does not like these files. Stuttery ugly playback in a timeline. They may be MOVs but they're still h.264 which is not an ideal editing codec. So without being able to natively edit (a pretty sizable pain) I guess I'm going to have to transcode.

Would be nice to do a sort of Log and Transfer scenario but that doesn't appear to be an option (Canon handles this nicely with their EOS log and transfer plugin--it works great). I suppose I could make a Compressor droplet or use Mpeg Streamclip but those are less than ideal really.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this workflow? I want the high quality 1080 30p (72 Mbps) but I want to be able to edit the footage quickly in FCP 7, how best to proceed? Much appreciated, thanks!

What I do is to use Compressor to transcode to ProRes 422. Seems to take about 2X RT. Has worked fine for me.

The best quality transcoding option is 5DtoRGB.
